Proof of Identity Required to Apply for PAN Card
Photocopy of any of the following documents having the applicant’s name as mentioned in the application:
Aadhaar Card issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
Voter ID card
Passport
Driving License
Ration card having the applicant’s photograph
Arm’s license
Photo ID card issued by the Central/State government or Public Sector Undertaking
Pensioner card with applicant’s photograph
Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme photo card or Central Government Health Scheme Card
Original Certificate of identity signed by a Member of Parliament/Member of Legislative Assembly/Municipal Councillor/Gazetted officer
Original bank certificate on the letterhead from the branch (with name and stamp of the issuing officer) having duly attested photograph and bank account number of the applicant
Proof of Address Required to Apply for PAN Card
Photocopy of any one of the below documents need to be submitted along with the PAN application:
Aadhaar Card issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
Voter ID card
Passport
Driving License
Copy of first and last page of spouse’s passport (if the address mentioning in the form matches with the address mentioned in the passport of the spouse)
Post office passbook carrying the address of the applicant
Latest property tax assessment order
Domicile certificate issued by the government
Allotment letter of accommodation issued by the state or central government (should not be more than three years old)
Property registration document
Self-attested copy of any one of the below documents (not more than three months old)
Electricity bill
Water bill
Landline or broadband connection bill
Proof of gas connection (card/book with the latest bill)
Bank account statement (statement should have the latest transactions mentioned)
Depository account statement
Credit card statement
Certificate of address in original signed by a Member of Parliament/ Member of Legislative Assembly or Municipal Councilor or a Gazetted Officer, as the case may be (in prescribed format)
Employer certificate in a prescribed format (in original).
Points to be Note:
In case the applicant is minor, parent’s proof of identity and proof of address is accepted as ID and address proof of minor applicant.
In case of HUF, an affidavit made by the Karta of HUF bearing the name, father’s name and address of all the coparceners on the date of application along with above-mentioned proofs in the name of Karta of HUF has to be enclosed along with PAN application.
An Indian citizen residing outside India can produce the latest copy of bank account statement in country of residence or copy of Non-resident External (NRE) bank account statements (not more than 3 months old) shall be the proof of address.
In case the communication address is an office address, proof of office address has to be submitted along with proof of residence address.
Proof of Date of Birth Required for PAN Card Application Online
Copy of any of the below documents bearing the name, date of birth of the applicant:
Aadhaar Card issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
Voter ID card
Passport
Driving License
Birth certificate issued by the municipal authority or any office authorized to issue a birth certificate by the Registrar of Birth and Deaths or the Indian Consulate
SSLC certificate or Mark sheet of a recognized body
Photo identity card bearing the name and DOB issued by the state or central government or any public sector undertaking
Domicile certificate issued by the government
A photo card issued by Central Government Health Service Scheme or Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme photo card
Pension Payment Order (PPO)
Marriage certificate issued by the Registrar of Marriage
An affidavit obtained in lieu of date of birth certificate.
Fee Charged when Applying for PAN Card
The fee charged for applying for a PAN card that needs to be dispatched to an Indian address is Rs. 110/- (inclusive of the GST)
Fees for new PAN application for dispatch outside India is Rs. 1020/- (inclusive of the GST).
Fee payment can be made through demand draft drawn in favour of ‘NSDL-PAN’, credit card/debit card or net banking.
How To Apply For PAN Card Online
Steps to apply for a PAN online:
Step 1: Open the NSDL site (https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/pan/index.html) to apply for a new PAN.
Step 2: Select the Application type – New PAN for Indian citizens, foreign citizens or for change/correction in existing PAN data.
Step 3: Select your category – individual, associations of persons, a body of individuals, etc.
Step 4: Fill in all the required details like name, date of birth, email address and your mobile number in the PAN form.
Step 5: On submitting the form, you will get a message regarding the next step.
Step 6: Click on the “Continue with the PAN Application Form” button.
Step 7: You will be redirected to the new page where you have to submit your digital e-KYC.
Step 8: Select whether you need a physical PAN card or not and provide the last four digits of your Aadhaar number.
Step 9: Enter your personal details, contact and other details in the next part of the form.
Step 10: Enter your area code, AO Type, and other details in this part of the form. To know visit here.
Step 11: The last part of the form is the document submission and declaration.
Step 12: Enter the first 8 digits of your PAN card to submit the application. You will get to see your completed form. Click Proceed if no modification is required.
Step 13: Select the e-KYC option to verify using Aadhaar OTP. For Proof of Identity, Address and Date of Birth, select Aadhaar in all fields and click on Proceed to continue.
Step 14: You will be redirected to the payment section where you have to make payment either through demand draft or through net banking/debit/credit card.
Step 15: A payment receipt will be generated on successful payment. Click on Continue.
Step 16: Now for Aadhaar Authentication, tick the declaration and select “Authenticate” option.
Step 17: Click on “Continue with e-KYC” after which an OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
Step 18: Enter the OTP and submit the form.
Step 19: Now click on “Continue with e-Sign” after which you will have to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
Step 20: Enter OTP and submit the application to get the Acknowledgement slip in pdf having your date of birth as the password in DDMMYYYY format.
